Summer Time in Titisee

Continuing my previous post from Amsterdam where we went to Zaanse Schans and Volendam, shortly after that we were headed to Cologne. Cologne is a city famous for one of its landmarks, which is the Roman Catholic cathedral with gothic architecture. It took us hours of road trip to be able to get there and once we arrived, we went straight to see the cathedral. There were a lot of people once we got there, mostly tourists. From Cologne, we continued our road trip to another city in Germany, Frankfurt.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Frankfurt, which was a really nice hotel (the breakfast we had was awesome too). I and my sister strolled around the hotel to buy some stuffs, we found a grocery store within 10 minutes walk. Frankfurt was such a quiet city, it was around 6.30 pm when we arrived and there were barely any cars passing through the area we walked by.

We visited Titisee, a lake located in the southern Black Forest area in Germany, the next day. We passed the Black Forest area on our road trip and it was one of the most beautiful forest views. Once we arrived, I realized that summer in Titisee was quite hot compared to the weather in Amsterdam. We had our lunch in a Bavarian restaurant. There were duty-free shops, all in one place called Drubba Shopping, right next to our lunch spot— brands available including Rimowa, Longchamp, Aigner, Swarovski, and Pandora.

After lunch and a big black forest with cherry gateau cake, we did what most tourists would do in Titisee. Shop inside the souvenir stores, sight-seeing, and eat ice cream. Souvenir stores in Titisee were nothing like the ones in the previous countries, they sell lots of unique items, from bottled honey to small statue of Buddha (that my mom eventually bought). We had ice cream as desserts and treats for the hot day in a little cafe before heading to the Rhine Falls.

Rhine Falls is the largest waterfall in Europe, next to the town of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Visiting this place was a really calm moment just to sit down, relax, and enjoy the view. I saw some locals were riding their bicycles to explore around this area and I was wishing that I could borrow one.. This was a great place to visit and to end our day before heading to Zurich.
