I Visited My Dream Country

As our latest summer vacation started to come to an end, we visited another three different countries in only 5 days— which were Germany, Austria, and last but not least, my dream country, Italy. We went back again to Germany, to visit and explore more of Munich.

If you have read one of my previous posts from Frankfurt (click here), you know that we were in Frankfurt before visiting Zurich, Switzerland. Why did we go back? Well, our nicest Italian driver asked whether we wanted to go to Munich and spend the day there before heading to Innsbruck, Austria. Of course we said yes.

Our road trip from Zurich to Munich wasn’t as “smooth” as I expected because we got stuck in traffic, hence the little time we had in our last destination of the day—Innsbruck. Munich was great though we only visited two places— Galeria Kaufhof Marienplatz and BMW Museum. After our lunch in Il Punto Italiano restaurant and some grocery shopping session in Galeria Kaufhof, we were headed to BMW Museum. I won’t recommend you to visit this museum if you don’t have much time to spend in the city as there’s really not much to do there but drooling over those cars and motorcycles.

We had our dinner in a Chinese restaurant in Innsbruck then saw the Golden Roof. There were a lot of little stores and cafes near this area but the stores were mostly close when we got there. Innsbruck is the kind of place you want to visit just for the sake of its beautiful views. This city is surrounded by mountains and clouds, hands down the PRETTIEST CITY EVER. Can you imagine the view we had from our hotel room? One word: amazing.

The next day, we were on another road trip to Venice, Italy. This is my favorite part of the whole trip besides Paris. From Austria’s chill weather to Italy’s heat, we experienced some kind of climate shock.

Our visit to Venice was like a dream-comes-true to me. I used to dream about going to this city, especially after watching the Italian Job movie years ago. I always feel like there’s something so magical and special about Venice.

The first thing we did here: gondola ride. It costs €120 for one gondola ride (not more than 6 persons, around 30 mins to explore the canals). After that, we had our pasta for dinner in an Italian restaurant near the St Mark’s square area. Next thing we did was definitely the highlight of my day. We went to the Gucci store and I bought my very first pair of Gucci shoes, the iconic Jordaan loafers. I also met the sweetest staff called Maddison and we shared some stories about our life. ♥️

We went to Rome after Venice to see the famous Trevi Fountain and then Colosseum. We visited Vatican and Pisa the next day. If you guys plan to visit the St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican in the future— especially for women— make sure to bring something to cover up your shoulders and thighs area. I was wearing a tank top with mini skirt that day, then the security in entrance area told me to cover my shoulder and legs before entering. It was so hot that day so I didn’t bring my jacket. Our Italian tour guide quickly ran inside and bought me a scarf. I could finally go inside to see and find out about the burial site, statues, history and so much more. The next destination was the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Milan, August 9th 2017, the last day of our summer vacation. We spent the day in Duomo— shopping, eating, and having fun— before heading to the airport. Keep an eye out for stores with big sales! I scored a pair of Adidas for 50% off and it was such a greaaat deal. Four hours spent in this place was NOT enough. Unfortunately, we had to go to the Malpensa airport early to catch our flight and take care of the tax refund process.

One word to describe this year’s entire summer vacation: magical. I had the best time exploring countries in the Western Europe. I wish I could spend more time here and there, but there’s always next time right? ♥️
